Food and Beverage Batch Dispatch Dataset
Trace batch production, rejected units and dispatches to remaining stock.
A practical workbook exercise for production planners and distribution analysts. Work from the underlying records, compare the relevant totals and explain how you reached your result.

What's included
- Products: 12 records and 4 fields. One packaged beverage product.
- Batches: 120 records and 6 fields. One production batch.
- Dispatches: 120 records and 5 fields. One dispatch from one batch.
Recommended analysis
- How much accepted stock remains by batch?
- Which batches expire soonest?
- Which products have higher rejection shares?
- Can each customer dispatch be traced to its batch?
How to work with the data
Use the following relationships to connect the source tables:
- Batches.product_id → Products.product_id
- Dispatches.batch_id → Batches.batch_id
Check the row grain before joining. Aggregate repeated child records to the required level before combining totals, so parent amounts are not counted more than once.
You can explore the workbook in Excel or Jolene.pro, or use the CSV files with SQL, Power BI and other analysis tools.
Definitions and assumptions
- Produced units include rejects. Accepted units = produced minus rejects.
- For September stock, exclude dispatches after September 30. Expiry dates are operational source fields, not a safety determination.
Use the field definitions and nullable-column guidance in the included data dictionary. Interpret blank values and reporting dates according to the scenario notes.
